i agree with BrianMc..

in my case i did this to promote my affiliate links:

- created site http://hostinghostgatorcoupons.com, but i added duplicate content into it and it hurt the site google ranking.
- Also i promoted hosting by posting at forums / it was half-spam. it was effective, but i was near the ban from affiliate program so i stopped
- also im promoting hosting affiliate program on this forum by banners and links

any more ideas how to promote it?
