VPS is a good start for a small business, but when do u start to consider dedicated servers for your growing company?

It really depends on your requirements. There are no hard and fast rules about what type of businesses needs a VPS or a dedicated server, and one is not necessarily better than the other. You need to look at what your minimum requirements for a server are, and then determine if a VPS or dedicated server can deliver those requirements.

You start considering to move from VPS to Dedi when you need that much RAM, CPU that the VPS cost similar to dedicated server and dedicated server having significantly more resources (ram, cpu, disk).

On dedi, you do not need to worry any other person on same server affect you anyhow. When having Dedi, Its just you on hardware, and you manage all access and all software on it. When having a VPS its an just virtual software made container on a dedicated server. So in some cases, other VPSs on same server may somehow influence your VPS performance / uptime.

VPS feels same as dedicated server, it is only cheaper and can have low resources like ow cpu, ram, disk. You then do not need to pay for whole dedicated machine when you need just tiny resources (ram, cpu).
On VPS you still can almost fully customize server software. VPS is a good start.
