Let me give you the answer with an easily understand able example, a shared hosting is like renting a bed in a colony. You bought a bit of private space for a very low price.
After buying it you have to share the amenities like the toilet, etc. Also if the guy in the next bed is a heavy snorer, you will not be able to sleep well.
On the other hand a vps is like renting your own apartment. Once you bought you own its same like you are at your own. You have your own private toilet, etc. it is not your business that what you What the guy in the next apartment does and normally does not intrude upon your privacy.
