If you are planning to have improved page ranking for your website then you have to ensure that you get several links coming from many pages to do so, When the different pages are getting linked to site what actually does it mean for the search engine? You have an website with a quality content and it has lots of links present in it. When all the links are show on the homepage of the site what is the indication? Does so many links on the homepage means that the links are created automatically or these are created to add value to the site which is otherwise not worth?

If all your links point to the homepage then Google, or another search engine, will think that the homepage is the most important by far of your pages, and will usually only return that as a result. The creation of landing pages will help you achieve higher search results for a wider variety of search terms.

Search engines probably don't make assumptions about link validity based on the number of links pointing at a particular page. They use other factors to determine if the links pointing at your site are there because your site is interesting, or because you used a spam bot to plaster links all over the Internet. If you're using any kind of automatic link building software then odds are Google can see that already, but not because all your links point to the same homepage.
