If you are not ready for hard work, use my guide to setup easy search function like at HQ-Scenes (maybe i turned Search back on so it will not show, so i made a screenshot below)
This guide will convert Your turned off vbulletin search into this:
1. Turn off vbulletin search function from admin panel, vBulletin Options, Message Searching Options; Search Engine Enabled (No)
2. In the left menu find section "Languages & Phrases"
3. Click "Search in Phrases"
4. In the first field "Search for text", add this: Searching has been disabled. (or similar phrasse which is shown on your search page)
5. Hit "Find" button
6. Edit variable "searchdisabled" or corresponding
7. In the field "English (US) Translation (Optional)" enter message including html which you want to show to your visitors on search page.
I entered this at HQ-Scenes:
- Code: Select all
<h2>Need to find something at HQ-Scenes.com?</h2><br />
1. click <strong><a href="https://www.google.com/search?sclient=psy-ab&q=site:hq-scenes.com+YourSearchPhrasseHere" target="_blank">this link</a></strong> to open new window with Google<br />
2. replace "YourSearchPhrasseHere" by the phrasse or word you want to search<br /><br />
Hope this will help<br />
